LED CLP126 and Ring RNG268

Has anyone used the LED mounting clip CLP126 and retaining ring RNG268 from Mouser?  The recess slot in the clip does not appear deep enough to contain the LED lip because the LED wants to pop right out.  Even when I hold the LED in with a screw driver, the ring will not go on due to the inadequate recess.  I got the idea to use these mounting componests from an effects page on the web(can't remember were), but you can not assemble the LED.
