I am making a CD in jack for my ruby based headphone amp.  Right now my output jack just connects the tip and ring to make stereo output.  If I want to keep stereo output from the CD I think I need to use diodes somehow on the output fromt he amp.  I tried using two diodes I had lying around but I could get it to work.  What do I need to do?

diodes?! Hmmm... haven't heard of that one!

first up, you can't "keep the stereo output" but you CAN mix the two channels together.

Simply wire up three resistors. One in series with one channel, another in series with the other channel. Then, join those two together into another resistor in series, before connecting that one to the input of the ruby. It may also help you match the signal levels required.
