I just finished my fourth build: an MXR EF with Mods. I bought the board from General Guitar Gadgets (excellent) and the 3PDT from Aron (also excellent).

The enclosure's painted with self-etching primer, then a layer or two of metallic chrome paint, then a soft coat of red metallic paint. I baked the box between each coat.

For the label, I found a Bootsy pic I liked & used Fireworks to lay it out on the Hammond layout PDF from GEOFEX. It took some back & forth to get it scaled correctly, but the layout was invaluable. The input & output labels are a reminder that you can't get no groove if you ain't got no pocket.

I used a dark-fabric iron-on. There's visible bubbling, plus the blues became bright and bled a bit for some reason. The overall effect, however, was funky so I'm not complaining.

This is an extremely funky filter. It's my favorite build so far.

How can you NOT play better with something like that looking up at you from the floor?  I repeat.  How can you NOT?

I thought the pedal itself was funky.  This puts it over the top.  It's the smile, baby, the smile. :D  :D

I've been waving the flag for this pedal for years, ever since I bought my first one some 25 years ago.  I can't tell you how much it pleases me to see it make other people so happy.

The MXR EF is easily my favorite commercial pedal, but I've only had one for about 15 years. :D
