Hi guys, I started modding the BSIAB II yesterday with quite favorable results, but more opinions and differant ears could help :) as well as experiance and differant styles.

Sooo... who's up to it?

Cheers,
Dan.

I've been wanting to do some tweaking on this circuit too, but got sidetracked doing my super guv'nor - which is pretty intense - I'm calling it "Aurnold" - but I'm done with that for a while...

I would like to improve the BSIAB though - what do you have in mind?

Here’s a list off the top of my head

Tone section:
“Body” control to tone section as proposed by Jack Orman
http://www.muzique.com/lab/tone3.htm
Tone section bypass
Dual pot controllable HPF
HPF bypass
Using a buffered 3 band EQ (so to not lose much power)

The 3rd inverting stage:
Bypass cap â€" had some interesting results with that one
Using a BJT or MOSFET stage ( I had cool results with a BC549C)
Maybe even J. Davisson’s Vulcan stage
Using a whole MB stage

Maybe even using a higher voltage.

That’s for now… try which you like, and tell me what you thing.. I’m still trying out things

On the tone control:
I think that driving the tone section with an opamp may cause you to loose some of the dynamics of the circuit. But, on Jacks circuit the 22k and 39k resistors could be pots, giving some range to the height and location of the filter's midpoint - a treble/bass knob...

On the 3rd stage:
I think it needs it too - good idea...

We should try to sync up on a layout/schematic - can you PM me the files you are working with.
