I have a few Toshiba made 2SA12 transistors in the TO-72 case.  I have no idea of the pinout and my DMM tests give wacky results.  The tranny has a very small triangle printed on the side with the vertex of the triangle pointing to one of the leads.  Does this triangle indicate a particular lead.  I assumed it might be the emitter.

I also have some Hitachi 2SA53's marked the same way.

There is a chance they are all bad, the Hfe test on my BK 815 shows a range of 6 to 10 with leakage in the order of 10 to 15 mA.

The leakage figure should be in microamps not milliamps.

2 SA 12 should be a TO-1 case.

the color-point marks the collector, next to the collector ist the base and the last is the emitter.
