Interesting find - any info/suggestions?

I recently bought an old Multivox MXD-5 Analog delay - I can't find any information about the unit.  It sounds pretty funky and can go into this pretty wild oscillation - definitely an interesting toy.

Has anyone ever played around with one of these?  Any suggestions for mods?  I noticed it has a ton of JRC4558DX 0302 in it - I was thinking about pulling them and replacing them with some Burr Browns to see if it cleans up the sound at all.

It also has aMN3005 - the datasheet I found on it says it's a long delay BBD.  There are two motorola M_14049 - I can't see the chip very well, so I'm not sure the exact designation.  I found a datasheet for a MC14049 Hex Buffer - would that be a part you'd find in a delay?

yes - (CD) 4049 - clock oscillator/driver...

Hmm I saw that schemo and I was wondering what that CB1405 chip was? Any clue? Can't find a datasheet...

obviously some VU-meter similar to the ULN2003 (?) family series
(IMHO not neccessary for audio-functioning...)

ULN2003 is a 7 transistor NPN array with internal clamping diodes. I used to use those for lots of stepper motors. ;)

Look at LM3915 for a different chip with similar function (10 LED output). You could also replace it with an LM339 and a series of resistors (4 LED output).  :D

I`s thinking of: UAA180 ( & UAA170 (?))

shudda looked in my stashbox before posting...

    :?  -sorry-
