Will changing the value of the tone pot in a SD-1/tubesqueemish from circa 20k to 100k change it's operating range/feel?

I need to whip up a replacement clone before tomorrow evening and have all I need except a smaller value lin pot, but I do have a 100k lin pot. Is it going to make the thing unsusable?

I wouldn't, it probably won't sound right. If you are in a pinch,  I think you would better of putting a 10k resistor in its place would should atleast make it sound like the tone knob is at 12:00.

What kind of taper isthe whacky one on the original ts9s?

A 100k is too far off the mark, the control will be very cramped at the ends.  Trying to pad out the value with external resistors will not improve things.  In fact a 20k linear is cramped in comparison to the original G taper pot on TS9.

In comparison to a crampness of a 20k *linear* I think a maximum sub would be a 50k linear pot.
