Hi,

does anybody have the schematics for the Ken Multi
Phaser?
Model Number MPH-7, picture here:
http://filters.muziq.be/files/pics/kenmulti_mph-7_001.jpg

I think it's a simple 4-stage FET circuit (and it was dirt cheap),
but i'd like to know it in detail.

It has a distortion that is pure magic on the Wurlie.

Thanks,

JH.

Don't have the schem, but couldn't resist saying hello and welcoming you here.  I hope you choose to return.  I have been a big fan of your work or a few years now, since learning about it.

Hi Jeugen, I've trawled through my usual piles of circuit diagrams but no luck I'm afraid. What do you suppose is different about this phaser?

Hi, from Vienna...

I recently bought an MPH-7 on ebay (not shipped yet).

As soon as I will get it (2 weeks ?), i can trace it and support you with a copy of the schematic.

Hi analogguru

You re busy these days!

I tried to add a phaser schematique at filters.be but

didn't get a reply from them.Do you know anyone I could contact??

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome - I just came back and was surprised to see so many replies; I guess that notify-me-by-email button wasn't working.

I don't expect anything vastly different from other phasers.
I just found a "sweet spot" when I was plugging it into my Wurlitzer 200A epiano, with a very nice distortion on the high notes, and pretty clean sound on bass notes. You find that _often_, but this time I thought it was especially pleasant.
I guess that, as with many phasers on resonance, the wurlie will overload on notes that just hit the moving resonant peak, and I'm curious about the circuit details in that specific case.
Just the FETs' own distortion, some limiting diodes in the feedback loop, some pre- / deemphasis - who knows?

I should mention that I get that sweet sound with a whole signal chain of Wurlie, that phaser, a LA-2A clone optical limiter and a MAM Filterbank. But as the phaser is the first after the piano, the sweet nonlinear stuff must origin from there.

That would be great!
It was my first thought to open it up and trace the whole circuit myself, but when I'm being realistic, this won't happen anytime soon ...
