I'm putting together a "Rodent" from the GGG site and have collected a few schematics that conflict one another. Does anyone know of an accurate schematic of the Turbo rat? Does it use LED's or diodes? FET or JFET?

i build many RODENT'S from GGG and 0% fails .... hmmmm be carefull whit the transistors it's easy to mistake in that project because have allmost same number

and are 2 versions of rodent  ( LM308 ) and ( TL061) if you build the TL061 version , you need to remove the Bridge Cap from IC .....

the Turbo Rat uses red LED's and a different frequency compensation cap- I think its a 100pF instead of the 30pF in the regular Rat.

Thanks for the info guys. So, red LED's seem to be used as the diode of choice in the turbo. My next question is about the 1N34A germanium diode mentioned in the "ratc.gif" on the GGG site is that just flat out wrong and are actually Red LED's?

I'm a rookie at pedal building and want to try to build the "turbo rat" version and try to nail it first time and not have to dick around too much with it (after all I want to plug it in and use it!)

when I cloned mine, I just put a 2D3T switch to switch between In4148's, red LEDs and IN34's...you got the best of both worlds...or three worlds.
I actually like the red LEDs - they give a higher output with a bit more grind. The germaniums sound a bit weak for me. Some people will like them.

Did you make other changes to the circuit as shown in the ratc.gif off of the GGG site? There are a couple resistor values changed, 1 resistor added and a cap change. Was any of that necessary?

I followed the schematic off arons site from memory, but there was a discussion around the time on changing diode vales, so I subbed a switch in there to change them
