Will you guys (Torchy, Dragonfly and the likes) STOP posting veroboard circuits? I have just bought enough components to build 5 fx units, but that seems to be not enough for my GAS !!!!

My wife is starting to hate me. What a great freaking forum this one is. I love you all.

You too? At least mine watches soap operas at night and so doesn't realise I'm on the kitchen table with my soldering iron. The problem I have now is that I'm running out of room to hide the finished boxes. She keeps asking why I need another fuzz or booster, but she didn't complain when I built her a deluxe Bazz Fuss as she's used it ever since.

You think that's bad?  I just bought enough components to build 2000 OF THE SAME PEDAL.... my design of course.  I bought enough copper clad board to etch a little over 5000 boards, but now I'm leaning towards veroboard.... thanks to all the layouts on this forum and the fact that ZVEX started that way.  Its definitly less time consuming than etching my own.  My wife is tired of listening to me talk about it, but she does support me.... suprisingly.  She had to bite her tongue the other day when I got a package of 2000 Neutrik stereo jacks delivered to my front door.  Then I told her the mono jacks were on the way.  She made up for it by buying a $600.00 coffee table.  That about killed me.  A coffee table is a coffee table!  But, I couldn't say anything.  My website will be up and running in about a month and hopefully I'll sell some of these things.  If not... I guess my backup plan is to compete with Steve at SmallBear.

It does help that my best friend is George McConnell of Widespread Panic and he already has one.  And I've been talking to Derek Sutton (Robin Trowers manager) about buying one of his amps, and just dropped the line to him.  Hopefully, he'll take me up on it since I'm givin' to him for free.  It'd be nice to steal a client from Fuller.

Vero board is really, really good for one-time pedals if you have a supply of vero board.

Pros:
- fast prototypes
- as durable as PCB if done well
- less prone to mistakes in wiring and soldering than perfboard
- less expensive than one-at-a-time PCBs
- simpler to make than PCBs - if you have a good supplier to buy the base board from

Cons
- more expensive than perfboard
- less dense (hence a bigger board) than either PCB or perf, so only smaller circuits fit in a given sized box
- equally unsuited to making more than one at a time to perfboard as compared to PCBs
- mounting considerations and wiring off-board are trickier than PCB

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thats a lot of board !!!
I should have shares in "vero"-- I now have 10 circuits waiting for boxes and 3DPDT switches etc !!
During the drawing up of the two "Joe Davisson" boards I had to make a few, I now have three "Vulcans" and two "Blackfires" -- ALSO waiting for
the enclosures ...... HELP !!

I'm still using perf.  I haven't built too much lately though.  Been spending lots of quality time with my 2 year old daughter or playing my guitars.  I'm slowing taking parts off old PCB's from a few VCR's and such.  Once I get a good assortment of caps, tranny's and jfets, I'll be alright for a while.  I just need the OK from the queen (she wants a new house).
