Im trying to build a +-12V and +5V power supply. i canget the +-12V to work fine but the +5v i cannot get to work right. I have 11-12 volts at the input of the voltage regulator but at the output I ge the same thing. i know the regulator is working so i dont know whats going on. someone help

does the +5V regulator have a load attached to it? If not, it may help to add one.

Possible wiring error, double check that the reg is grounded properly.

But first, be absolutely sure that the reg is working because what you describe sounds like it's gone short circuit.

Try measuring from input to output to see if there's any voltage drop through the reg.

I guess that you need to "load" the regulator to get the right + viltage out of it..
