I really wan't to make myself a Power Conditioner..

Filtered so i don't get noise into my rack,
Regulated so i have stable voltage,
++?

Is there anything i have forgotten? Wich should be inside a rack power conditioner.. Like a Furman pl8 or similiar units..

Schematics?

Thanks,

I imagine a DIY solution is possible, but at $129 I doubt you can beat the Furman PL8II.

As far as i know the pl8 costs 320USD in Norway..
But that's of none interest beacause i will build it inside a rack unit with both 230Volt output and 9 volt output..

It is quite difficult to do an adequate line protector/conditioner on your own, as well as being dangerous because of the AC line wiring.

The best simple solution is to find a constant voltage transformer (CVT), also know as a ferro-resonant transformer, which takes in your line voltage, then gives you an output like your line voltage but regulated and filtered. These are expensive and **heavy**.

Putting inductors, capacitors, MOVs, etc on your power line is possible, but as I said, dangerous and expensive.

My best advice is to buy one.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

What do an inductor do?
And what's a MOV?

If i put a cap on the line will it suck noise? (between +&-)
X1 or X2 cap?

:D
