I'm building the Jawari and there seems to be no indication of how the transformer should be properly oriented on the board.  Which side is the primary?  I assumed the right, when you're looking at the layout, but since the test run didn't work I think maybe I'm mistaken.

Forgive me if this is dumb, I've never built stuff with a transformer before.

(BTW, I'm putting the Jawari and the Green Ringer in the same box and calling it the GREEN JAW!)

Hmm, just found it on Charlie's site.  I did it right.  Troubleshooting time!

However, once I've got it down, I'll post samples of the two in glorious series.

Actually, *Primary* should be on the *left* side - towards the input, when using my layout of Tim's circuit, and a 42TM018 transformer.

HTH!

I recall trying the transformer both ways when I built the Jawari and it didn't seem to really make any difference. It's a 1:1 transformer (10K:10K), so why should it, right? 8)

Hmm...I'm at work, but I'll go home & check it out later.  If Charlie's right, though, why should it make a difference?

Doh! I just pulled out my PCB and took a look, without actually checking the schematic.

Charlie's right!

OK!  :D   Well, it could be that there was a grounding problem when I tested it, because the whole thing was dangling half-in half-out of the enclosure, and at one point there were actual sparks.  So I'll get it all tucked away happily and try again tomorrow!

Cool!!

Well, uh... that's probably not good tho, huh?  :D
