dropping volume?

I finished sansamp gt2 clone today. it works perfectly. but volume is too high. i hardly hear clean tone when i turn off it. it as 100k volume pot in orginal circuit. what can i do to drop volume when i turn on it. change 100k  to 10k or 500k ? or use a cap?

It sounds like you're saying that you can't turn it down below unity gain. If this is the case, something is wrong with it. Mine reaches unity at about 1/4 turn, and I can turn it down to silence.

I'd check the wiring of your volume pot before changing values.
