transistor equivalent again

I'm always looking for equivalent of transistor. The datasheets are not enough most of the time. In france we don't find exactly find the parts we need so i need equivalent most of the time.
Someone on this forum must know a website were you can list the equivalents of a simple transistor. For example i want the equivalent for a PN 100=2N3904 but those two are difficult to find without ordering.

The name comes from a song called "Korgull The Exterminator" by the French-Canadian metal band Voivod
It's not really their best song but it popped into my head when I was trying to think up a screen name.

For lack of a better term, I'd call them "avante-garde futuristic metal." They have a very original style.
They've been around since the early eighties. Jason Newstead (ex-Metallica bassist) plays with them now.

a 2088 is a hiBeta tranny.   overkill..
for a noise generator, almost any tranny will work.
actually, the worst, the noisyest, are the best.
i've used 3904 & 3906's(Paia used 2712's)  
U have to find the worst, er best noisemaker.
sort of sorting trannys 4 Beta...
look at the PAIA  2720-5 LFO/noise generator for a reversed-biased noise  tranny.
