I built a big muff the version at http://www.tonepad.com

I am just wondering if it is behaving properly, every pot seems to function as a level knob, even when all knobs are turned up full it is still below the bypass volume. I can only seem to get one kind of horrible fuzz out of it as turning down the "fuzz" knob only drops the volume too low.

I used 2n5089's for all transistors, for RA i used a 100k resistor to ground, all the components marked red in the schematic I used. no mods..

This cant be normal, it sounds worse than my reissue.

if you would like me to post the DMM readings let me know.

You have a short somewhere it sounds like. I would check all of your wiring with your DMM set to continuity mode.  It will check to make sure nothing is connected that shouldnt be.

That is a bit of trouble, it seems at first, tho I find it very often shortens the debugging process and makes the posts more interesting to read.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The annoying thing is, I already boxed it up a glued the wires down after testing it, it seemed as if it was working, I thought o there is fuzz, lets get this boxed up. DOH!

ah well ya live an learn.

This is common. It probably WAS working. Somehow when you boxed it up, a part is shorting out or somewhere there's a break in the circuit etc... from putting in the box.

I would probably trying taking it out and seeing if it's a simple short. Otherwise you have to start debugging using the many debugging links on this forum.

I got it working, turns out it was a little extra solder from lug 2 of the tone controland a cold solder joint on the 3PDT switch.

here are some pix.

it sounds that good I have decided to stick the reissue muff up on ebay.

Quite proud I managed to fit it into a 1590b box. quite a tight fit.
