DS-1 SEM/ULTRA switching question

Hi,

It's my first post here and I recently did the SEM/ULTRA mod to my DS-1. I replaced D5 with an LED then placed another LED in series with D4. Here's how I wired it (with the switch) :



When the switch is off (D4 + LED), the SEM LED (D5) lights up whenever a signal passes thru it but when I close the switch (D4 only, LED shunt), the LED in D5 doesn't light up. Any ideas?
