BD-2 diode switching question

Im trying to change the clipping of D10 from a LED to a 1n4148

by using a SPDT switch. The switch is a 2-position ON-ON switch

with 3 legs. I tied the incoming line to the middle leg and

then tied the LED to one leg and 4148 to the other, then tied both diodes

together back to the board. when iuse the switch nothing happens.

Am I doing something wrong or was this plan to change the distortion

ill-concieved from the beginning?
