I've been spending the last few days R&Ding boosters. Right now I'm doing opamp versions. After trying 5 different opamps I planned to try all of Joe Davidson's dicrete opamps. I built the "simple opamp workalike" for starters. I tried to simply pull the opamp out of the breadboard and plug the discrete in directly.

I did this after a long day of R&D so when it didn't work at all I called it a day and went upstairs. Tomorrow, I'll plan to work on these all day. I'll check to make sure it's wired right but ,assuming it is, can these just be directly plugged to where an opamp once was?

Does the loan 5087's emitter connect directly to +9?

Tried a search already

All upward arrows go to +9v. The current opamp circuits have limitations. I do have a more compatible circuit which I'll try to post soon.

Should plug straight in. Have you checked out the "other" beginner project? It shows how to wire the op amp to a ic socket. I haven't tried one of these in a booster yet, but the diode compression version sounds cool in a tube reamer. I wish I could find a way of mounting these externally without picking up RF, could label them "Doc Brown Specials".
Shoot straight you bastards. Don't make a mess of it. -Last words of Breaker Morant
