PNP Hornet Question...

Been troubleshooting this one for a while now without success.  I'm trying to build the Hornet from the pcb design posted at http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_hornet.pdf

I bought the transistors (pnp) from smallbear and reversed the polarized components.  The comments I've read online suggest that this is all that's necessary to convert from NPN to PNP transistors.  Unfortunately, the pedal will only play clean, volume attenuated when turned on. No distortion.  I've been trying to learn from the PNP project posted on smallbear's site http://www.smallbearelec.com/Projects/Hornet/Hornet.html but am confused by some of the additional components contained therein but absent from the pcb on generalguitargadgets.com.  Specifically, R1, R9, C5, and C6 are absent.   Can't believe i'm stumped on the beginner project!

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Did you remember to switch the battery around to a positive ground setup?

if you have like jacks and switches on there ... could be in them.
 'Standard' PNP Pos gnd. ff.
Using non polarized input and output caps? Point the + of the Ebypass [lower] cap to ground.
Do your tranny's have metal hats with a tab? the tab denotes the emitter, and would point 'south', the leads of the transistors coming out of the body forming an 'arrow' pointing toward output.

 Voltages...?

I do have the battery and polarized caps turned around.  I'll double check the transistors and pull the voltages.  Can the additional components posted on smallbear's version be ignored??

Thank you for your responses.

I'm trying to get a link to GGG's pos gnd FF.
the power supply and cap orientations of that schematic might help 'seeing' how the connections are made. Links don't work tho.

Got mine working.  Sure enough had the emitter pointing "north".  I'll snap a pic of mine and post a link.  Now all I need to do is tune the pots.

Relieved,
