Need help - lot of NOISE in my pulsar

Hi!
I built the pulsar frm tonepad layout and i have three problems with it.
I've mounted it on a home made pcb - it seems to be ok
The problems are the following

1- the obvious thicking
2- my unit has a lot of noise
3- treble loss when on

to solve the first point I tried to run it on 5 V dc with a regulated power supplies: the ticks go away, but the noise goes up and up.
I've used thin wires to wire the unit: can them generate noize?

Please, help me.
