If you use the 500k reverse taper pot for sustain, do you wire it up the same way (using tonepad layout?)

Generally if you sub a rev log for a log, and wire it the same, it'll work, but it will be backwards. Max gain at CCW, min at fully CW. Didn't the Dyna originally use a rev log?

Edit: Dunlop uses a 470k rev log pot for the sensitivity. So it's safe to say the original did. Dunlop has never changed the original pot taper of any of the old MXR line.

So would you assume the reverse pot is wired up like a regular or reverse the wiring?

Yes, the 500K reverse audio pot is wired the same way as shown on the Tonepad layout, with lug 3 connected to the emitter of Q5 and lugs 2 and 1 shorted together and attached to the 27K resistor.

The 500K reverse audio pot is the only way to go for the "sustain" control in the Ross and Dynacomp circuit...the spread of the control is perfect compared to a linear taper, where it would be bunched up at the very end of the pot's rotation.

Duh!  Phillip's right about the wiring. I was thinking about something else, pot wise.
