I just threw together my first rangemaster. Actually, it's the "rangeblaster" from fuzzcentral. I was trying to use my perfboard efficiently, but I didn't expect it to come out quite so compact...

The tone is quite opposite the size.... big, loud, and dangerous

Kind of funny that something with such a tiny part count goes for over $100 on ebay. Germanium mojo magic I suppose. It does sound great though. I'll post some clips once I get it boxed up.

Great build!  Nice and small, too...it would fit into just about any box!  The Rangemaster circuits give a very big tone without spending a lot of cash on parts :)

Which NPN Germanium transistor did you end up using?

2N1306 from smallbear. My multimeter measured hfe of 69, but that might be wrong. Anyway, sounds great! Thanks for the nice schematic and great website.
