i've got my eye on the real mctube project, but have never done anything above 9 volts before. as i'm in europe, what changes do i have to allow for the muscular 240v we have?
is it as simple as whipping the transformers out of two european 12v wallwarts?
i'd resort to trial and error, only i don't want to die.
cheers

Leave the xfrmr inside the wallwart you put into the wall !!!

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

If you used tow 230/12 warts, ther problem is that the second transformer (the one not connected to the mains) is now putting out 230v AC instead of 115v AC.
If you made the second wart a 230 to 24v transformer, then the ratio would be OK. (first transformer 230 to 12, second gives 12 to 115, which is the same ratio as 24 to 230).

If you are still uncertain, draw up a labelled diagram & post for comment before building, someone here will put you right!

just use the wallwart to power the effect....

no need to rip it apart, especially if you arent confident working with the mains.
