Hi,

I have a first act garage master guitar and it has an internal preamp with a distortion switch. I changed out the 4 clipping diodes(2 symmetrical pairs) for lower voltage ones and now get a smooth sound I really like. From what I can see it uses a LM6132  Dual op amp. Could anyone suggest what circuit could be similar in a pedal, to perform the same modification and use with other guitars? I imagine it is hard clipping as it can get plenty distorted, but don't know for sure.

I am suspecting a boss  DS-1, but that I think only uses 2 diodes.

THanks

Vivek

Even soft clipping can sound very distorted!

It's very hard to guess type of clipping by hearing a pedal

For example, in the Rockman distortion units, some models are hard clip and some are soft clip

Yet each sounds very Rockman
