formerMember1, Silver-coated wire solders very nicely. The wire you ordered is very nice stuff (600volt teflon casing) and priced accordingly. They don't sell that stuff at Radio Shack or Fry's. Probably overkill for effects, but what the heck.

Silver conducts slightly better (there was a US power station that borrowed silver during WW2 for busbars!! during the copper shortage).
But for a stompbox, its easier (and much more effective) to just use fatter wire.
Where silver does matter is in microwave gear, where the signal runs in the surface of the metal ("skin effect"). but those frequencies are far beyond ours.
Also silver used to be favored for stopping tarnishing, but ther eis so much crap inthe air nowadays it goes black in a second!
BTW, if that teflon covered wire had been used in aircraft instead of kapton, ther ewould have been a few less crashes..

do yourself a favor and throw away the Radio Shack wire.
