as Rangemaster devices, same price as the OC44. They sound similar to my admittedly furry ears. I will have the OC77 about the end of July. I was offered OC81D by the same shop, but price was prohibitive so I will keep looking. Please let me know if you get a line a a wholesale lot of those, as I will gladly pay a finder's fee in parts or cash.

On another note, I recently received my first PayPal-paid order from India. The world keeps getting flatter...anybody wanna do some pedals optimized for sitar?

While I have a sitar, actually PLAYING it is another thing...I can't imagine trying to tune a pedal in for one of these things!

Small Stone is perfect for sitar and for saz...

The OC81D is supposed to be the shiznit in 3 transistor Tonebender circuits.

really? does/would it really make a diference. wonder what kinda big diff would that be ya think?

Debatable.  Supposedly, the OC81D was used in the original 3 transistor ones, but most have OC71s and OC75s.  Hence, there's a lot of legend, rarity, and mojo magic involved.

As usual, with such a simple circuit, a lot will depend on your own sonic tastes.  I've built the 3 transistor MKII with OC81Ds and 2N508s, and I like the 2N508s better.

how funny! thats mojo i guess.

I did a 3knob and used these,or this because the first two are silicon BC559's,though it ain't got a D on the end.

but I sold it,nothing special, kinda nice and creamy distortion, so maybe I should box the 2knob as that has 3 x OC81's in it.
Monkey see, monkey do.

I wonder if there are appreciable sonic differences between the OC71 and the AC188. I just built a Rangemaster with an AC188 and it sounds fantastic. The AC128 sounds good too.

I just recieved my trannies - ac128- from AMZ- so far so good! thw 1st is lower gain than the one i had in my tonebender for q1.
