Hi All,

I have been reading this site and I have to say I am hooked. I decided to build the Mosfet Booster and just finished it last night. Everything worked well execpt for the gain control. Most of the range is at the end of the control (80 to 100% of the pot). Most of the control has no effect at all. I used the 5K linear pot per the schematic. Is there any way to smooth this out where it changes the gain across the range of the control. Thanks for any help and advice.

Also I'm looking forward to starting on another pedal. Any suggestions for a good second project?   :D

use a reverse log pot. I think smallbear has got some 5KC pots being made, he should have them in soon.

Thanks Nelson. I need to place a good size order and stock up on a few items.

The MOSFET boost is also well suited to do the parallel pot/resistor trick, as described in The Secret Life of Pots.  I found a linear 25k pot in parallel w/ a 10k resistor plots out quite closely the reverse log plot.  Your maximum resistance ends up being ~7100, but in this case that means you can set the gain lower than witha 5k pot, which I personally like.
