i just built a austin treble blaster. it only works when the pedal is on. when i switch off pedal there is no sound.
also there is no gain of any kind, only the sound get's really tinny.
the transistor is from small bear.

checked wiring a million times and it is fine.
only problem i could think of  is how i have my 3pdt switch wiried up.
i have it wiried right except i didn't wire any LED's.
i did jumper 2 lugs on the 3PDT though.
may be do i have 3pdt facing the wrong way?
i went by aron's post on hooking up a 3pdt,except i switched around the battery for positive ground.

yes, i have bias pots hooked up, they seem to be able to bias a little.
one of the pots has detents though.
i have transistor sockets soldered in.
should i try another transistor?

thanks.

before i soldered in bias pots i had trouble setting there value it seemed like it was random or something when i turned the knobs.
but even though it isn't biased exaclty shouldn't it still distort?[/i]

sorry guys made a mistake.
The pedal doesn't work when on. my guitar plays when pedal  is bypassed.
could i have 3pdt oriented backwards or sidewasys or something?
thanks

it seems everything is wiried fine.
i don't think my pedal is getting power, because if i unplug battery the effect still works when bypassed. with battery connected the same thing happens.

please help :D

so far i can't get pedal to work when it is on.
the pedal is not getting power.

i have the boost set pot wiried up correct. i think.
if you are looking at back of pot, lugs facing right:
lugs numbered from 1 to 3, the lug closest to your feet being 3.
1 lug= collector wire

2 lug=nothing

3 lug=power wire/output cap then to 3pdt.

anybody please help.
should i swap my battery wires with each other?
i have neg to 3pdt and positve to input jack.

If you have a continuity checker (or that fundction on your DIMM) check the continuity of the 3pdt lugs.  I'd guess you have it turned 90 degrees.  It's alot easier to aviod that mistake with dpdt swithes.

No, the switch is oriented correctly. i checked it again to make sure.

one thing i did notice is the boost pot doesn't have a wire to center lug.

should i jumper it to adjacent lug with output cap on it?
thanks
