would it be save to drive a tube amp with a ruby?
i mean there are 386 based overdrive pedals so could i just put my ruby in front of my marshall and go into high gain without destroying one of those amps?

I wouldnt do it, it is a speaker driving signal, would you plug your tube amp speaker out into another amps input?

The 386 based pedals are designed to output guitar level signal.

Atleast thats my limited understanding of it.

I personally wouldnt risk it.

What I would do is add a line out to the ruby and use that to drive the tube amp. I believe ROG has instructions on how to do that.

They say that the Smokey amp, a little amp based on the 386 IC, can be used as a fuzz by putting in on the input of an amp; all I got was a too high signal that hurted my ears....

Sure, go for it. No problems.

It may not sound the best, but it will work without a problem.

i figured it wouldn't harm the ruby because it only wants to see a load of 8 ohm or more and i suppose the impedance of another amp is a little bigger.

i just don't like to fool around with my marshall unless i can be sure nothing will go wrong

Try to run a cabinet (2x10 or 4x12) with a ruby; I do it all the time with my Smokey amp and it ROCKS. Sometimes I even change to this amp on stage because it really sounds great.
