Hello,

I found that the popular Ibanez DL5 soundtank delay can be easily modified to double its short delay time.
This device has a special Karaoke Echo IC to make delay that uses sigma-delay ADC instead of SAR ADC.  It uses an old single DRAM chip for sound sample storage.
By 'piggybacking' a second chip on top, and connecting the out of the 1st to the in of the 2nd, the delay time is doubled.  This is a common 4164 type DRAM that sells for less than a dollar.
I suspect that all delays that use a single bit DRAM (with seperate data in and out pins) can be modified in this way.  The DOD DFX9 also uses a design like this.

Simonetta,

I posted your DL5 mods on the archives here
http://www.experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/Schematics/Circuit%20Bending%20and%20Modifications/Ibanez%20DL5%20mods.pdf

if anyone is interested.  Great file.  The only one in the circuit bends/mods folder sadly :(
