So if anyone can link my to one so I can learn how to read them so all the info in this forum isn't lost on me I'd appreciate it. I just finding without being able to read a schem, I basically have nothing but handy soldering skills.

The DIY FAQ is a good place to start--the schematic symbols appear with explanations of the components.  You can also get to this FAQ using one of the links at the top of the DIYstompboxes.com pages.  There are some other useful links there as well.  Notice that you can get schematics and layouts for many circuits--you can learn a lot by comparing them.

Hope this helps.

Hes right, just compare a schematic and a layout. Thats how I learned. Always remember the golden rule. It doesnt matter how its connected as long as its connected.

Crittoprrr, I made up several schematics in what I call "EZ Build" style. They shows how actual components are wired up. You can go to the "Links" link at the top of this page, go to "Guitar Effect Projects" (General Guitar Gadgets), at the bottom of page two. When the GGG page comes up, click on "Cross-Reference", then "Schematics". About 3/4 of the way down you'll  come across the schematic "Easy face (Joe Gagan's)with input cap switch". Print that one, and then go to the bottom of the page where it has my EZ Builds, and print out the EZ Build version of Joe's Easy Face with cap switch to compare. You'll be able to see from the standard schematic, and the EZ build schematic, how the physical components relate to their symbols. You could actually build from an EZ build without knowing how to read from a standard schematic too. I drew them up for Newbies so that if they were just starting to use schematics, that it would sort of jump start that process. There are several other EZ Builds to choose from, but I feel the EZ Face is the most explanatory. Hope they help!
