Mu Amps don't show ripple as much?

Using an LM317 on a wall wart...
 Mu amps seem to be able to get high gain with less power supply hum, just dreaming or is it the large biasing resistors and something about Jfets being comparitively low gain...or just a fluke or misnomer?
