Think of it the same way you think of a more efficient speaker; it makes your amp sound louder with less output power.  But that doesn't mean you have to have the amp turned up to 10.

Okay, let's think like that. Big 500w amp with Volume at 10 minutes(yeah, not yours) giving you 50w or your tiny 50w at max? Is this what u're talking about?

Well, soundly(does this term exist?) speaking u'll have a better sound. But lightly(¿) speaking u should have the same brightness don't you?

I'll do the test.

the only negative thing to factor in is the cost, and it's only about $1 extra. it's nice to know that there's good quality components in there. then again, maybe you want an LED which disperses on more directions, and you can find that in a cheaper one?
Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!

I do not use leds, even though I power pedals with a pack of 6 AAA or AA. But if I had to, I'd use a trimmer to get the best brightness to preserve single 9v battery life.
Also I'd use different colors for different type of pedals, ie, red for distortions, green for compressors, blue for time based fxs, etc.

I think anything less than 5mA for Ultra Bright LEDs is a waste! You could use 5mA with normal LED with the same results...
