how do i rig up a simple tone-volume circuit in a pedal?

um...hello by the way...i'm new here. i'm trying to put together a simple passive tone and volume pot pedal but for some reason i cant figure it out. i've built a few pedals and this one which only requires 2 pots and a cap is really throwing me off. anyway a simple diagram or explaination of exactly how i wire up a tone control and connect it to the volume pot would really help me out. thanks a lot.
