Buildin' a Thundercheif...

It's time for me to build my first perfboard project, and it's gonna be the Thunderchief from runoffgroove.

I've built a few other things before, but mostly from kits. This will be the first time I have to gather up so many parts myself. Small Bear doesn't have all the stuff, so I will have to get some things from either Mouser or Digikey. Ordering things from their websites seems a bit overwelming--could anyone give me some pointers (or direct me to a helpful thread)?  

Also, just basic stuff like what kind of capacitors and resistors I should order. Where do people usually mess up with this kind of stuff?

And some general advice from people who've built the Thunderchief would be helpful too.

I'm going to try to post pictures and stuff so maybe someone can learn from this later.

you can order EVERYTHING from small bear, they have it allu could order the 3PDT switch aron cuz the r cheaper but then everything else u can get at SB

I've got some experience buying from Mouser. Mouser is great, IMO... very fast shipping, excellent customer service, enormous selection, competitive pricing, actual shipping costs (no inflated "handling" fees). If you want to PM me with a list of the parts you want from Mouser, I'll give you links for them and point out other common parts you'll need if you plan to build another.

Nero pointed out the switches available from the forum's owner, Aron. Buying some parts from him is a good (the only?) way to financially support this site. I buy blue 3PDT switches at cost (I assume he does also) so I know he's asking an honest price. He has other items and Aron also ships at cost.

I haven't built the Thunderchief, but everything I've built at runoffgroove works!

Thanks...I already have a few switches from Aron...I loaded up on those a while back. I just feel safer with a few of them around.

I'm actually still have a hard time finding all of the parts on Small Bear...the conversions are probably messing me up. Is there a way to know from looking at the schematic to know what kind of capacitor to use (metal film, electrolytic, ect)?
