either will work.
make *sure* U have the pins on the round  metal can oriented correctly.
On the round part, the tab is pin8  NOT pin 1.
check the data sheet for the part orientation.

Use the one that is cheapest and most available.

A local surplus place has some metal can RCA CA3080 and I didn't find any difference between the metal can and plastic DIP, noise or performance-wise in my Ross comp clone.
