hello all,
i lost my digitech wammy ac adapter, i really don't to take it apart to see if the center is pos/neg and if it has filtering cap and is regulated.
    anyone know ?
        thanx,

Checking my PS750 which came with my WH-1...
Output 9V AC 780 mA

Checking my PS0913B-120 that came with my WH-4...
Output 9V AC 1.3A

Neither unit indicates polarity of the plug - does it really matter if it's AC? Testing on the voltmeter reads 9V AC no matter what the order of the probes is.

Both are glued shut, so I'm not gonna crack 'em open to tell you what is inside. Sorry.

it's 9 vac and doesn't matter which wire is connected to the pin or outer shell. i lost mine too and i have alot of 9 vdc's but no ac. i do have a 12 vac ------does anyone know how i can reduce it to 9 vac ???????? steve

I should be more accurate - I actually read 11V AC output on the PS0913B-120. So hook your 12V AC adapter up to a voltmeter, and if it really is right at 12V, it should be just fine to use for your Whammy. If not, well, then I'm not sure what, because all of the voltage-reducing tricks I can think of right now are for DC!

And after thinking about it more, the + or - tip thing really shouldn't matter with AC output. As long as one of the legs isn't actually referenced (i.e. tied) to earth ground, it's pretty arbitrary to say which is + and which is - on an AC circuit. Now neither of these Digitech adapters had three-prong plugs, so I'm pretty sure that the two output leads are not referenced to ground.

Given the value of a Whammy, however, it wouldn't hurt to pick up a factory adapter DIRECT FROM DIGITECH for $25 plus shipping to be absolutely sure it's the right one. (Look under "transformers".)

True story: I bought my original WH-1 Whammy on ebay for $56.00 as it was listed as "working intermitantly". Sure enough it showed up with a 9V DC adaptor. I plugged in a proper AC adaptor and she works perfectly!

Love the whammy!!!

go to goodwill or value village or whatever. you can find an ac power adapter easily.

the reason that your meter reads 9vac no matter the orientation, is because the lines are 180 degrees out of phase. basically, you won't find negative ac voltage anytime soon.

i yanked the power supply from from my digitech vocalist. and it was the same one , now i have to get one for that unit.
