Hello.. I have a question regarding the DD-3..

There's a delay (like 3-5 secs) turning it on when you first power up, ie. plugging in battery/wart or plugging input cable. Is this normal?

I just checked DD-2 schem at http://www.8bitsindgenug.net/boss_dd2.png. Does this have something to do with the mute on?

Thanks for any info.

I don't know about the DD-3, but I know the RV-3 has the same "delay"; it is even written down in the manual I got with it and it suppose to be normal (maybe reset or recalibration procedure).

It's completely normal, the internal computer is booting up.
