Hi.......I am usually at the HC forums, but someone said this place was really helpful, so im gonna give it a shot. Sorry if it sounds totally stupid, but ive never done anything like this before. I wanted to re-house a dano chicken salad vibrato. The only thing i am having problems with is the switch. I want to add a 3pdt switch to it, but im not sure how. Someone from HC said to wire it up to the jacks. The way the pedal is now, it comes on when power is connected to it. So i could do it like this, and then when i pressed the new switch that i wanna install, the effect would go into the signal, and when i pressed again, it would be bypassed. Does this make sense? Anyways, i think it would be the easiest way to do it, but i dont know the first thing about where i would attach the leads from the 3pdt switch. Can ya help a newb out?

That shows various ways to wire up a 3PDT switch with LED + 2.1mm DC socket.

That should tell you alot. You just need to figure out where the board input and output are.

I am not familiar with the switching in danelectro pedals, its probably FET switching....so connecting the wire that goes to the switch from the board to ground should keep the effect constantly on, so you can install the 3PDT true bypass.

Interesting. Although it might seem crazy, what that person said would work. You take the entire circuit, plug in 2 1/4" jacks and then wire the circuit like you would any other circuit board. Does the Dano come up "engaged" every time you turn it on?

Also, you might check with Colin @ experimentalistsanonymouse.com (or something like that ;) ), I know he's done quite a few TB mods to the Dano's.

Take care,

Most Danos actually use CMOS switching with a 4053.  All you have to do is:

(1) find the in/out path of the effect ON state, using the pinout of the 4053 as a guide (no, I don't know the pinout of a 4053, look it up on alldatasheet.com)

(2) replace the ON state path with a jumper

(3) the old in/out where the jacks connect to the board become the new effect in/out.  Then wire 3PDT as usual for true bypass.

We did a sort of "group trace" on this pedal a while back. Must be somewhere in the archives?

Here's the schem:

Looking at the component side of the pcb with the wires on the left, the connections are:

In
9vdc
ground
skip? It connects all the ldr's. Should this be refrenced somehow?
out
led (will turn on led when connected to ground with power on)

Good luck!
