I've been using this boost for a couple of months and so far I'm happy with it. I'd like to perform some mods on it though.

- What can I do to reduce the highs somewhat? it's a little too bright for my tastes. Any trim pot to add?

- I used a 2N5088 transistor. According to the datasheets, the 2N5089 has 25-30% more gain. Will it be noticeable if I swap the 88 for a 89?

Thanks in advance !!

Hi, you could just use a roll off cap, from signal to ground just before the
output, try a 1n ( 0.001uf )  to 10n ( 0.01uf ) or something inbetween and
see how you like it.
If possible, socket this connection so you can "plug and play" with the values.
For me, most times a 2n2 ( 0.0022uf ) cap is a good roll off point, but its
different for each persons circuit/ gtr/amp setup

Yes you'll get a gain lift when using a 5089

Could tack on a stupidly wonderful tone control....

Thanks for the answers. I'll change the transistor and try different cap values.

Great booster !!
