Gurus! Reducing the amount of distortion on MT-2 Metalzone?

Hello,

My Metalzone is modded and sounds great, but the gain knob still goes from 0 (too much gain) to 10 (totally meltdown).

If I put an eq pedal before the MT-2 and drop the level by about 10db it makes the MT-2 much more usable.  I with the input level dropped I can even get a great bluesy break up and the gain knob still goes high enough for metal.

Is there a resistor I can change to drop the overall signal hitting the clipping part of the circuit??

Thank you for looking,

I just got these mods from someone elseAndreas to be exact)... I Believe its just fine to share it... I never really tried it yet... But here it is... :)

Try increasing the value of R46 (2.2K) to 4.7K or so. That will reduce the mid boost before the distortion stage, reducing the gain and making the pedal less nasal. Replacing D3 and D4 with LED's (or just one of them) would clean up the pedal considerably while increasing the available output by the same amount, but that might be too drastic.

Good luck!!!
