DC Power Jacks

Hi, first post here.
I am interested in making a pedal but have a few quick questions.

The 2.1mm DC jack i see in schematics - I am an australian and we have different power supply from the US so i am wondering if it will still work here or burn out...

Also, If someone could point me in the right direction of instructions of how to wire a 9V battery AND a external power supply into a circuit.

about your first question... as long as your power supply gives you the right voltage (9v for most of the stompboxes...) that you need, it should work
