Convert a 100 k Log pot to a 50 K log pot?

Hi,

I'd like to know if it's really possible to convert a 100 K log pot to a 50 k log pot.
I know that you can convert linear pot to a log or linear pot by the Help of the site " Electronics Math Helper"  http://www.diystompboxes.com/analogalchemy/emh/emh.html

But can I convert LOG pot to anything else.

You can put a 100K resistor in parallel with the pot.

Just put a 100k resistor across lugs 1 & 3 .... DONE !!
Same for a 1M to a 500k just use another 1M resistor .. etc etc

You use the formula for parallel resistors. Say the por is R1 and you add a resistor in parallel R2. Then the total resistance Rt is:

Rt = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2)

When using pots, the taper can vary when adding resistors in parallel to them.

What is the taper % on the taper pots calculator?  Is 90% a regular audio taper and 10% reverse audio?

put a 250k resistor between  lugs 1 and 3?

No, a 250k resistor will get you a final R of 166K. You put a 125K (120K is the closest standard value) and that gets you down to 100K.

It's just a matter of parallel resistors, using the formula I typed in an earlier post.

How about 1m linear to 500k linear? Looking at this it LOOKS like I would put a 500k resistor on lug 1 going to 2 and another on lug 3 also going to 2- is that correct?
