Hi guys. The notes say that Aron used J201 FETS in his version but the pinout on them is GSD, notice the G is not in the middle. The layout has the G in the middle, SGD. The replacements I know for J201 have the same GSD. Anyone know what I can use that I don't have to cross leads on? -ph

That's pretty weid. I guess just cross the leads to make it work.

on several stompbox builds i have had to cross leads. you can manage.  :)

Splay the two 'right leads out right at the transistor body [as your looking at the numbers with leads going down] so that when they cross they bend around each other, needle nose pliers make this alot easier, then if your needle nose have a 'flat vise press' near the jaws, this eases the aligning of the bottom of the leads, sticking just a 1/4'' length of the three leads in to the 'flat press' to make the final bottom bend and alignment for the socket with the 'plier press'.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Just a thought your local electronics store may have NTE 458 that has a pinout of what you need it will have it on the little bag you buy and they are high gain like the J201..Might work!!!!
practice cause time does not stop...

I've always used short pieces of wire-insulation on the legs when crossing them.
