Hi everyone, I've just bought a DMM and I was just wondering whether anyone could point me in the right direction it terms of using one to fix/debug effects pedals.

Thanks

the DMM doesn't fix the pedal for you.  Its just a tool.  An important one, but just a tool.

well, i am just a beginner but i can tell you some ways that i have used my dmm.  first, i often check resistor values with it.  for me, it's often quicker and more accurate than trying to read the color bands on the resistors.  second, i use it for continuity checks:  dial in the lowest resistance measurement range and put the two probes on points that should be directly connected--the resistance should be very small.  third, many effects require certain voltages at specific points in the circuit and you can read these with the dmm.  if your readings don't match published values, then you are on your way to finding a mistake.
