FYI another Cornish hallmark, use Torx Security screws (in addition to "guarantee void if label removed" warning stickers).  The Torx Security screws are those six point screws with a pin down the middle so you can't use a regular Torx screwdriver.  As if that's any deterrent, a half hour trip to the local hardware store and I was the proud owner of a T10 Torx Security bit, and off came the screws.

Some more info, possibly later :)

Does he encase his electronics in a mass of epoxy, too?

He encases his PCBs in something, it's not epoxy, looks more like red paint to me... "conformal coating" as it were.  I have a PC effect (not mine) on the bench right now, the owner was not adverse to opening it/breaking the guarantee seals (since it's long out of warranty) but scraping off all that red crap is another thing.  If I gather any more info I'll post it up.

Yeah I believe that plastic stuff is pretty standard in situations where the electronics have to be able to withstand some moist environments. A little searching led me to Urethane coating spray.

Perhaps he thought of the love that musicians around the world share for beer :icon_lol:

Only seen a power distribution rig up close but they look bombproof ...

What about those LED bezels?  Are they custom made for Cornish?  :-X

Are those big-ass boxes "C" sized?  :-X :-X

MartyMart

I get those "big assed" boxes from Maplin (UK)
They are grey hammerite finished, about 2cm longer/1cm wider and 1.5 deeper
than a 1590B, could be a 1590CC  !!
Made by "BIMBOX" and they look exactly like Cornish boxes !  :icon_eek:
They cost £8.99 so around 14/15 bucks and make a LOT of difference when
fitting circuits in, still much narrower than a 1590BB for pedal board "real estate"

They come pre-painted in silver hammerite? And here I thought Pete Cornish did it himself.  Actually, now that I've looked at the Maplin site, they seem to come in plain grey now -just like the new pedal pics on Cornish's site.

Shame Maplin doesn't ship to Australia!  I was going to cop the shoebox look for a second there.

It's a BIMBOX 5006-16.  Don't know about the LED bezels.  Actually it's not an LED bezel at all, it's an entire LED that fits inside a hole, and the outer part is larger than the inner part (like a 9V adapter jack).  Has to be fitted in before soldering.  Also it's just hot glued in there.  Which makes sense since if pressure is applied from the top it won't fall into the case.

Those are the bezels (oops sorry..."fresnel lenses") alright!  :D

The small sized Cornish boxes (like the NB-2 Boost) appear to be BIMBOX 5005/15 ...although he seems to be using plain gray boxes now that don't fit the 5006-16 dimentions.

I supect these guys might be prepared to send a quantity order of those boxes to Australia:

I know I'd buy one or two of the big ones.  I hate trying to squeeze everything into small enclosures, and the Cornish boxes have enough room for a battery drawer!
