Boss SD1 input buffer mod

I've read on Geofex that we can mod a TS in order to make it less noisy by replacing the tranny on the input stage to something like 2n5089 or MPSA18. As Boss SD-1 is more or less the same circuit as the TS, can we do the same to SD1 ? Thanks.

Yup. I modded an SD1 with a 2N5457 FET for higher input impedance and less noise. Didn't notice a difference
