Sorry to sound stupid

But i build the amz boost and for the diode i used a plain 9.1volt zener . But looking back i see its a diode but a rectifier power diode i should have used .

The boost is working but theres not much boost there ( amp is louder without the boost on )  Im guessing its the plain diode stopping the boost ?

Can i use a 1n4007 in place of the 1n4001 i should have used . Or maybe a 1n4148 small siginal diode ?

Thanx for your input

Yes

Thanx

So im guessing my diode muck up is whats causeing very little boost ?

This is one of the reasons that I really hate it when someone redraws one of my designs...  the diode is NOT a 1N4001 as shown on that drawing but a 9.1v zener as shown on the original at:

http://www.muzique.com/schem/mosfet.htm

Always use the original as reference...

So...  that cannot be your problem with the circuit.   Double-check your orientation of the transistor.  If that is not it, measure the DC  voltages at the legs of the mosfet and I will see if I can figure it out.

Thanx Jack

My stupid mistake was the transistor was in backwards . I switched out the 9.1volt diode for the one mentioned in the schmatic  :  ( but changed it back to the 9.1volt diode . And all is working

Thanx again
