Nobels DT-SN pedal: any good? (look at SCHEMATIC!)

I can buy one for 20â,¬. (around 25$)
Some say its good others say its noisy (even with gate)...
After schematic search, it revealed CMOS circuitry (14007 inverter right?) bit like Llama, TSF, ... sound?
Could be this is making the noise? Is it controllable?

Looks like the 3 inverter stages are connected in PARALLEL (after a TS-style soft clipper). Would this cause more noise than only one? Maybe I could cut the connections of two of them?
